The Wheaton Academy Warriors (3-1-1 (2-0 MSC)) win 3-1 against a strong Ridgewood Rebels on Friday night.
Jude Barton celebrated both his birthday and his first varsity goal tonight as he volleyed the Warriors in front from a corner kick in the 4th minute. The Rebels would answer 3 minutes later after some scrappy play in the Warrior penalty area. Wheaton Academy would take the lead again in the 35th minute as Josh Mariotti headed home a cross from
Haetham Nasr. Ten minutes into the second half, Nasr would draw a penalty kick that
Evan Eckert would convert for his first of the season. The remainder of the game saw a lot of battle for possession through the middle third, and a handful of saves by each goal keeper.
Declan Finnegan recorded 5 saves and 1 goal against in 80 minutes of play.
The Warriors return to MSC conference action Saturday 12pm vs Bishop Mac at Performance Trust Field.Â
