September 7th, 2022- The Wheaton Academy Warriors and Marmion Academy Cadets played to an exciting 3-3 tie Tuesday at Performance Trust field. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to goals by Josh Mariotti (assist Will Clegg) and
Caleb Mariotti (Free Kick). The second half would prove an uphill battle after an early red card, leaving the Warriors to play with 10 men for the final 30 minutes. Marmion scored in the 56
th and 67
th minute to even the score, before
Josiah Pitts gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead in the 68
th minute. Despite strong stands by the back line, and a red card for the Cadets, Marmion would score the final goal of the game in the 74th, bringing an electric evening of 10v10 soccer to a 3-3 draw.
The Warriors improve to 3-2-2 on the season, and open up MSC conference play Thursday night at 7pm vs St. Ed's. JV kick off vs Chesterton at 5pm.
