JV Boys Soccer Falls to WWS 3-4 In Season Opener

In a high-scoring, hard fought game, WA JV Boys soccer took the lead early after a well-placed cross from the left flank by Luke Holwerda found a perfectly timed run in the box by Max Dominguez, who finished with a full volley into the upper netting of the goal.  Play was fast-paced and physical throughout the match.  WWS equalized soon after when a corner kick, initially cleared by the WA defense, was played back into the box and finished on a questionable no call for offsides.  WWS continued to find quick counter attack opportunities during the first half which resulted in 2 more goals coming from early balls played in behind the back line to fast wingers.  After a half time deficit of 1-3, WA stepped up and got more and more scoring chances with the 2nd goal of the game resulting from a Penalty Kick drawn by Drew DiNaso and finished well off the right post by Owen Setran.  As WA continued to put numbers forward into the attack trying to equalize, WWS struck a hard shot from 25 yards out that dipped just under the cross bar.  WA continued to press for the next goal and found the net shortly thereafter off a well-played service from Owen Setran to Kade Clousing who finished for goal number 3.  The final minutes of the match were well fought with more scoring chances by WA, but the equalizer did not come.  RJ Simmons made numerous great saves to keep the game in sight during the second half.  WA JV play their season opener vs. West Chicago on Thursday, August 27th.
