WA JV Boys Fall Short against West Chicago in Hard Fought Match

The Wheaton Academy JV Boys followed up a hard fought battle against Wheaton South on Tuesday night by taking on West Chicago in the first home game of the season.  For the first 15 minutes, the game was evenly matched and both teams saw opportunities on goal. Max Dominguez took a heavy knock mid way through the first half, and the WA JV Boys stepped up defensively in his absence.  Both teams continued to possess the ball well and WA had several opportunities towards the end of the first half.  However, West Chicago managed two quick goals right before halftime.  In the second half, the Warriors came out strong and pushed to equalize the game.  A minute before the final whistle, the Warriors were given a free kick, 25 yards away from goal.  The Kilgallon brothers feigned shots on goal, and then Owen Hardy fired a rocket passed the diving keeper and into the back of the net.  The Warriors battled for the equalizer in the final minute, but were unable to find it.  The game ended 2-1 in favor of West Chicago.  The JV Boys will play at home on Saturday (12pm) against Geneva..
