Warriors Win BBCHS Tournament

The Warriors won the BBCHS Tournament on Saturday after defeating St. Ignatius and Bradley-Bourbannais.  In the tournament final, the Warriors dominated from the opening whistle.  The WA Boys controlled possession in the opening minutes and the midfield trio of Jack Kilgallon, Seamus Kilgallon, and Owen Hardy connected pass after pass with the outside wings and their defensive support.  In the 4th minute, a pass found Owen Hardy who charged into the box and was taken out just before releasing a shot.  The Warriors were awarded a penalty and Max Dominguez capitalized, giving WA the early lead.  Bradley-Bourbannais responded three minutes later off of a corner.  However, it was one of the few effort that they would have on goal.  For the remainder of the half the Warriors controlled the ball and the tempo.  Luke Holwerda played as well as he has played all year, slicing through the defense and creating several scoring opportunities.  In the 14th minute, Luke Holwerda took the ball down the left wing and cut the ball into Owen Hardy, who was waiting at the top of the box.  Owen took the ball past a couple of defenders and scored an excellent goal to give the Warriors the lead.  In the 23rd minute, Seamus Kilgallon hit a rocket past the outstretched keeper, but was denied by the crossbar.  Kade Clousing crashed the goal and buried the rebound to put the Warriors up 3-1.  WA continued to control the game and the defensive line was able to keep Bradley-Bourbannais from scoring for the remained of the game.  The team put in a convincing performance and earned the tournament championship.  

The Warriors move to a 4-2-2 record, and continue a six game unbeaten streak.  They have also given up only two goals in their past five games.  They play again next Saturday at home against Ridgewood.
