On Saturday, the Warriors faced their toughest competition of the season as they hosted St. Charles East. The Warriors entered the gamewith an 8 game unbeaten streak and were anxious to face a challenging opponent. At the opening whistle, St. Charles East passed the ball back to the defenders and
Kade Clousing took off. Miscommunication on the part of the St. Charles East allowed
Kade Clousing to snatch the ball, cut past several defenders and open the scoring within the first 15 seconds of the game. The next 20 minutes were evenly played, with both teams having chances on goal, but St. Charles East maintaining the majority of possession. In the 20th minute, St. Charles East were awarded a free kick. The ball was played in and after a scramble in the box, St. Charles East were able to collect a goal and draw level. The remainder of the game was a hard fought battle, and the Warriors were forced to put on their best defensive performance of the season. From applying pressure up top, closing down in the midfield, holding the last line of defense, and excellent goal keeping, the Warriors were able to hold off St. Charles East and walk away with a tie. The Warriors were content with the result, but will be looking to come away with the win in the event that they come up against St. Charles East again in the St. Charles JV Tournament next weekend. The Warriors play again on Tuesday against conference rivals, Fenton.
