The Wheaton Academy football team secured a 47-7 victory on Friday night, moving to 2-1 on the season. The Warriors rode a 34 point outburst in the second quarter to a 47-0 halftime lead. The game expired quickly in the second half with the running clock, and the Warriors won their second home game of the year in as many tries.
In the first quarter the Warriors got on the board first on a
Cristian Carstens 2-yard touchdown run. They moved the score to 13-0 on a
Jay Callentine 20-yard interception return for a touchdown.
The second quarter featured a wide array of scoring from the Warriors.
Kent Harmon scored on a 7-yard touchdown run.
Ben Thorson connected with Miles VanderKlok on a long 75-yard touchdown pass. The Warriors special teams unit scored by blocking a punt -
Noah Jones broke through for the block, and
Sebastian Pares scooped the ball and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown.
Dimitrie Skakavac concluded the scoring for the quarter, catching a 19-yard touchdown pass from Thorson and punching one in from 1 yard out to make it 47-7 at halftime.
In the second half the Warriors played stout defense but gave up a late score on a Chicago Christian 1-yard touchdown pass.
The Warrior offense tallied 350 yards of total offense.
Cristian Carstens lead all rushers with 13 total carries for 107 yards and 1 touchdown. Thorson completed 4 of 6 passes for 121 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
On defense Dimitrie Skakavac lead all tacklers with 8 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception.
Jay Callentine had 4 total tackles and 1 interception returned for a touchdown.
Johnny Sullivan also converted 4 of 5 PAT attempts and had 1 interception.
