The 2020 Wheaton Academy girls golf season began with a 205-228 conference victory over Westmont where
Ellie Coniaris and
Anna Jones each tallied a 49 with
Caroline Kelly right behind them at a 50. The Warriors then took fourth place in the first-ever Wheaton Cup on the girls side.
On August 28
th, they defeated Kaneland (Maple Park) as
Sumana Danielson posted her season-best score of 45 to secure the win for Wheaton Academy. The Warriors knocked off MSC opponent Aurora Central Catholic 203-215 to move to 3-0 in dual matches on the season. In what turned out to be their closest contest of the year, Wheaton Academy beat Lisle by five strokes, 213-218 behind 49's from Coniaris and Jones.
In the St. Edward (Elgin) Triangular, the Warriors defeated the hosts 212-225 while falling to St. Francis (Wheaton) 212-169. Kelly led the Warriors with a 50 for the match. Competing in their final home match of the season, they lost to Riverside-Brookfield in a close contest 192-185.
The Metro Suburban Conference Tournament took place on Sep. 28
th at Oak Springs Golf Course in St. Anne. Wheaton Academy earned fourth place in the event as they shot a team score of 400 over 18-holes.
Kelly posted an 87 which gave her a share of eighth place overall.
The Warriors' final dual match came against Rosary (Aurora) as they posted their best team score of the season (177) yet fell by 13 strokes. Jones (42), Kelly (44), and Coniaris (45) each tallied their season-best nine-hole rounds in the match.
They concluded their season at the IHSA Regional meet, hosted by Johnsburg at Boone Creek Golf Course. As a team, they took fourth place with a score of 403. On the season, Wheaton Academy posted a 5-3 overall record while earning three conference victories.
