1-0 Win Takes Warriors to Tournament Final

The Warriors travelled to Bourbannais for the BBCHS tournament on Saturday where they were joined by St Ignatius, Shephard, and Bradley-Bourbannais.  The tournament was set up for two morning games, with the losing teams playing a consolation game and the winning teams playing in the championship.  In the first game of the morning, Bradley-Bourbannais defeated Shephard 1-0 off of a late goal.  Wheaton Academy was matched against St. Ignatius and the winner would go on to played Bradley-Bourbannais in the final.

From the opening whistle, the Warriors possessed the ball well in the midfield and were able to hold off St. Ignatius with a great defensive effort.  The defenders were stepping up well to win the ball.  Jonathan Austriaco and Luke Sezenov played excellently as outside backs.  Halftime arrived with the two teams finding themselves in a scoreless tie.  8 minutes into the second half, Kade Clousing received a pass from Owen Hardy and fired an absolute rocket into the back of the net from almost 25 yards out.  It was a fantastic goal and the Warriors continued to play well for the rest of the game.  The game ended 1-0 and the Warriors advanced to the tournament final.  One noteable performance came from DJ Pollino who stepped in as goal keeper and held the shutout.
